    About 5 years ago, at the time in my late 30s after having 4 kids and one more on the way, I decided to start playing basketball again and developed really bad heel bursitis on both feet, in addition to achilles tendonitis on both sides. it caused me to gain weight and prevented me from running or even walking too much without having bad swelling and achilles tenderness the next day. I honestly never thought I'd be able to run again. Every time I tried to ease into it, no matter what (PT even) it never got better. In February after trying a number of different shoes, I found the new Vomero 18. It was literally the only shoe I'd tried that allowed me to start some light running and walking without flaring up my achilles and heel bursitis. This started a journey that began in March 2026, and today because of this shoe I've been able to lose over 40 pounds, and now I'm only about 15-20 pounds from my end goal. the soft heel strike and smooth transition from heel to toe has been the difference
