During the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, LeBron was named a co-captain of Team USA and the male flag-bearer during the opening ceremony. As the boat carrying American athletes floated down the Seine, LeBron evoked the famous portrait of the nation's first president crossing the Delaware River—and a new "Captain LeMerica" nickname was coined. Soon after, he helped lead the United States to thrilling victories in the medal rounds and wrapped up his international career with a precious third gold.

Taking cues from the King's opening ceremony outfit, the LeBron XXIII 'Old Glory' colourway references that same flag-bearer white jacket. A chevron pattern on the upper that sits atop the midfoot crown also calls back to the jacket, while the embroidered piping nods to LeBron's polo that day. On the heel, a flag graphic symbolises the flag he carried while leading Team USA into the games.
