It is quite small for a medium and a little tight all around. I did not like the look or feel. I would not recommend these shorts if you are looking for comfort. It is not very flattery.

Ride up, so do not prevent chafing

I bought these to wear under my running shorts to ease chafing from my thighs rubbing together. They did not help with the chafing at all. I thought 5" would be long enough, except that they ride up my thighs when I am running and I have to constantly pull them down. I'm 5'9", about 165 lbs and would consider myself an "average" size. I ordered a large (usually L-XL in bottoms), and they fit great, but they are definitely compression/tight. If they would stay put on my thighs and not ride up, I'd give them 5 stars. But for now, I'll use my man's 6" compression shorts that stay put and prevent my chafing. Nike - make shorts for women with real mom thighs because we aren't all skinny minis!
