My pre-teen son really enjoys this Nike Lifestyle Backpack. It isn't for schoolwork, but he uses it as his carry-all for restaurants and library trips, skating/scootering, sports classes, etc. He carries his tablet, games, snacks, drinks, and books in it and it is working great.
Although it is small, the straps can be adjusted to fit my pre-teen. They are padded and the back of the pack is padded, as well, so it is more comfortable. The backpack material itself seems lightweight but strong, and should be easy to spot wash. The zippers also seem strong, smooth, and of quality, which is a must for bags to last.
The smaller front pouch is big! It doesn't seem like it, but you can fit a lot in it for quick and easy access. The exterior side mesh pockets are perfect for water bottles. Even with the short stature of the bag, these compartments are full size. The only thing that my son said he would change would be the internal slot for a tablet or the like. For kids, we normally use thicker padded protection on tablets. It does fit, but with the rubber bumpers it is snug. But the fact that it fits is good for me.
We like the backpack's versatility. Yes, it is small, but mighty. You can fit enough in it for a day's adventure. It isn't meant for textbooks or folders, so it is our funpack. We like that it is a basic color instead of "toddler themed" like other small packs. My son didn't care for the plush Nike Swoosh. If it were made with more patch-like material, it would be more recognizable and less bulky.
Overall, a 5 out of 5! This backpack expands the usage from tot to teen (and maybe even parent).
