I have to admit, at first glance, these shorts were not for me as I prefer mine much closer to my knees. Once I started looking at these as a piece of equipment, I was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t worn shorts like this since my high school track days and I have to say, these just make sense and you can tell a lot of thought went into them. For starters, they have 5 smart pockets that provide a lot of utility and they’re perfect for stashing cash, cards or keys or even earbuds if need be. The fabric is breathable and keeps you cool and the built-in briefs keeping you “in place” while on the go. No need to wear a jock strap which is a bonus. The most impressive part of these shorts is something I didn’t notice until after my run. I have no rear end and even with a belt I am constantly pulling up my shorts or pants and pulling the drawstrings on sweats and basketball shorts, but I didn’t have to pull these shorts up once which blew me away. I have never seen a waste band like this before, and I’d be curious if this band would work on underwear. I’d be first in line to buy those, even if they were just for sporting use. I’m not sure if it was the mesh and elastic combo or the width but it didn’t roll or fall and that alone was priceless! Finally, this is the first time in a long time a non-shoe product has given me such a positive feeling. I’m a casual runner at best and I prefer the treadmill over an outdoor run. Running in these shorts completely changed the experience for me. I have been wearing the wrong shorts for running. I had support without restrictions, and it allowed me to have a longer stride. The shorts kept me cool even though temperatures have risen 30-40 degrees in the past couple of weeks which is a tough task for someone as hot natured as me. A product like this is exactly what I needed to get excited about running again.
