Nike SB Day One

• Surprised by these

  These shoes here have really made me rethink MY overall footwear. First off, the design is different from any shoes that I own. I saw these and I just had to have them. The design is perfect. I love how the NIKE on the bottom of the shoes laces is facing up towards me. The reverse swoosh is pretty awesome as I see it on the sole as well As we know these are skating shoes, but the in side cushioning is 10/10. They are extremely comfortable and it’s not something that would’ve ever crossed my mind by just looking at the shoes. They’re not typical walking shoes but the material is so soft that it makes it comfortable enough for walks. Only thing I would make different is the tongue on the shoe. Even though I love it and I know they’re pretty much for skating I think it’s just a little too thick for me.

  These are a fly pair of shoes for the kids. They are SB's, so you get the Zoom Air insole which is nice. They come in the purple SB box, which is nice too. Once the shoes are broken in, they are very comfortable. They run a little small, so I would size up if you are between sizes. I found it weird that they didn't finish the tongue but the color of the foam matches the gum sole. It looks good but for a kids shoe I would prefer it be sewn together. Maybe, the padded tongue prevented that. Overall, nice materials and the design is worthy of the Nike SB name.

• Skate Burnsides Pass the Test

  Let me be clear- my 11-year old daughter does not skateboard. She chose the shoes simply for their visual appeal. As a 5th grader, she is becoming much more conscious of styles and trends. She absolutely loves these shoes which honestly surprised me. Her shoe game typically consists of Air Maxes and high top dunks. She will style the Nike Skate Burnsides with black athletic pants (like Nike Pros) and an athletic top- usually some sort of University of Iowa crewneck or t-shirt. My daughter is also very active. She will wear the shoes to the playground or while shooting hoops in the driveway. They have held up well to the abuse. My favorite part is the ability to keep them clean. The black suede leather and other materials wipe off extremely easily. My daughter says the shoes are very comfortable. She also noted they feel a little more narrow than some of her other Nike shoes but nothing too dramatic. I think we would seriously consider buying a similar product in the future.
