The new Metcon!!
Tony
This is my first time trying out gym dedicated shoes that are actually designed with stability in mind. I was pleasantly surprised how different it feels compared to what I am used to wearing when going to the gym. What I am used to wearing is my running shoes or my air max. The fit is true to size in both width and length, although the width is a little tight but also not uncomfortable. Maybe it is my imagination but it feels like this shoe helps with my over pronation as when I walk or lift heavier weight, I don’t feel or see my right foot/ankle folding inwards. I am not too familiar with the metcon series as I’ve mainly bought them in the past for my sister and she always loved them but now I understand her. After wearing this shoe and now looking back with my other higher cushioned running shoes, those were having me all wobbly sometimes when trying to lift heavier weights. I did some CrossFit exercises along with HIIT and it was very comfortable! The stair master was a lot easier to do too. I didn’t think it would have cushion but it does, the foam in the heel is soft but too soft. I also did sled pushes and it was a lot easier to do. I read that you can do some short distance running or sprints but I feel that the forefoot cushion is lacking or has none at all so I have not tried doing those yet but for sure If I did, I’d be able to turn corners with more confidence knowing I won’t be rolling my ankle. For the design the very first part that caught my attention was the upper, it looks exactly like the Jordan 11!!! It looks so sick!! Also the fabric makes it very breathable so bonus points. I am glad this model is my first experience with the metcon series. The midsole looks smooth too and the outsole has a cool traction design. I’m not sure what it is called on the side of the shoe that has the swoosh but I like that little detail too. I love the mini swoosh on the toebox and I like that it is becoming more common with the newer models. Not really much I would change as I don’t have personal experience with this series but if if there is talks of doing short runs with this shoe, there should be more forefoot cushioning to handle that but it would be best to leave that for the running division. This one I use mainly for lifting and some casual walking
