I have the original alphafly’s and the second series. I brought the alphafly proto and I have to give props to the originals as they’re by far the most lightweight. These are as heavy as the 2nd and the foam at the bottom looks very cheap like it could split easily. I took them out for a 12km base recovery effort run and they provided great stability, I’d avoid if you’re a heel striker as they don’t have much of a heel, the shoe makes you almost fall forwards, this is intended to keep you moving which is why this shoe is great for speed work or race days. Hit a PB even though it was meant to be a slow run, again, this isn’t for light speed it’s all systems go race pace. The ankle felt tighter than previous series and I do not like the colour but couldn’t wait until the march neon green release, even though I will be investing. I wore these in 1degree weather and I could feel my toes were cold, thin socks only with these. Didn’t need breaking in, no blisters, very loud hitting the ground but for the response it gives back I didn’t mind. As all Nike shoes I went up 1/2 a size, normally a 3, 3.5 fit perfectly.
