Fun Shoes That Can Keep Up With an Active Kid
Everyday dad of three
These Nike S.T. Dynamite basketball shoes were an instant hit with my son. The Chalk/Picante Red/Total Orange/Black colorway caught his attention right away, and he was excited to show them off at school. He liked that nobody else in his class seemed to have the same shoes. Over the past month, he’s worn them to school, in the backyard, on walks, and around the house. He still gets excited to wear them. The fit is great. He wears a 12–12.5C in other shoes, and the 12.5C fit perfectly without pinching or slipping. He says they’re comfortable, and he has no problem wearing them for long periods. The strap is especially convenient for a dad with three kids: he can get them on, adjust the tightness, and secure them himself without needing help. They stay fastened throughout the day, and he runs, jumps, and changes direction without noticeable slipping. The design is probably my favorite part. The bright colors are fun without looking like every other pair of kids’ shoes, and the basketball-inspired style works just as well for everyday wear. Durability has also impressed me. After roughly 20–25 wears in a month, the outsole and midsole show almost no wear, despite plenty of running around at school. The shoes still look to be in great shape overall. My one complaint is the white upper, which gets dirty pretty quickly. I haven’t tried cleaning it yet, so I can’t say how easily it comes clean. Aside from that, I don’t have much I’d change. Overall, these have been a great mix of style, comfort, and durability. My son loves wearing them, and I love that he can manage the strap himself. He already wants another pair for basketball season, and I’d happily consider buying them again, especially with all the fun color options.
