Uptown Innovation
Summer 2026 Air Max Preview
Innovation is often mistaken for access, when in reality the most important cultural movements were not born from abundance but built from limitation. The next wave of innovation is collective, where culture is driven by crews and influence moves horizontally. Innovators create the spark, crews keep it alive, and what emerges is bigger than any one individual. Innovation comes from those who choose to do what they can with what they have. This season, we head uptown to the Bronx, one of the most pioneering boroughs in New York, where originality is not manufactured—it is lived.

Meet Andrew Adames, a multidisciplinary artist who began in visual design, moved through music and visual culture behind the scenes, and is now part of Planta Industrial, a raw, genre-bending project created alongside Saso. Fusing post-punk, dark wave, electronic, pop and Spanglish rap, their sound reflects a constant push against definition. Together, this crew embodies a living expression of cultural innovation, where energy, identity and perspective move as one.

For the SU26 season, that mix of legacy and progression comes through in the product, with OG bring-backs of the Air Max 95, like the Slate and Comet colourways, alongside the Air Max 95 Woven in a vibrant highlighter treatment, and the Liquid Max, featuring a drop-in Cushlon midsole stacked on a point-loaded system and finished in seasonal tones inspired by dart frogs.

Across the Bronx, that spirit carries through a wider community, from Andy Martinez reworking the Nike Air Force 1 into cowboy boots to Taller De Rafa building through community and design to Bronx Girls Skate pushing skate culture forward. Stay tuned to SNKRS for Summer 2026 Air Max 95 and Air Liquid Max releases and the entire Uptown Innovation story for the season.
