  These are great shoes that look really good, but two warnings: they may look pretty grey in the pictures, but are definitely k blue in person. Also, on the blue sole sections, there are some sections of intentional fade to white which I didn’t see before ordering.

  In this iteration of the AF1 low, Nike shows with tasteful restraint and communicates ideas through texture and demonstrates how neutrals need not be boring. The cracked leather in the swoosh and the rough overlays invite you to touch even as they evoke a certain ruggedness, but this is balanced by the soft canvas like textile underlay panels. But the star of the shoe is the outsole. They remind me of the Jordan 7 tongue, in that the manufacturing process means no two will be exactly alike. Consistent with the upper, the sole looks brushed and weathered, as though wind has swept through salt and sand for a long, long time. This product photos don’t really do the color justice; the blue stands out without taking over. All the elements of this shoe blend perfectly. I can’t say for sure, but I think that this shoe will wear well over time because of the material on the toe box, meaning this is something you can have in your rotation a long time—something that might even develop character over time and with wear, much like the elements that inspired this colorway. If you’re on the fence, get them. Or, just wish you had when you see someone rocking these around town. Looking in my closet, I can say these are now among my favorite Air Force 1s.
