AF1 MID JEWEL "NYC"

SNKRS STYLE WITH ODD

Starting with a vision to define sneaker culture in Indonesia, Our Daily Dose, better known as ODD, has grown to become the leading sneaker-boutique with stores across the country carrying a range of curated sneakers and lifestyle products.

Outside of being home to the most sought-after releases, ODD is leading the conversation when it comes to celebrating Indonesia’s local streetwear culture. SNKRS partnered with them to share how three of Jakarta’s cultural icons style their Air Force 1 Mids and what makes the silhouette so special to them.

CHARLES

The OG AF1 Collector (@jhonscj)

A timeless classic. That’s how I’d describe the Air Force 1. It represents almost every aspect of street culture, from basketball to breakdancing, hip hop and art. No matter how many other sneakers out there, this shoe will always be my number one, not only because of its cultural significance but also because it matches my simple style.

I’ve been collecting AF1s for years, and I can’t stop! I started with the basic Air Force 1 Triple White, a cherished gift from my dad when I was young, all the way to the Air Force 1 Linen Kith Re-Release 2016, which has now become my favourite pair of kicks. So many Air Force 1s… and sadly only two feet to rock them on!

RICO LUBIS

Street Baller (@ricolubis)

The legend lives on in the Air Force 1… the shoe that revolutionized sneaker culture across the world since its first release in 1982. I have so many memories with these shoes on and off the blacktop and they are a staple in my wardrobe.

Hip hop introduced me to the AF1 in the early 2000s. When I saw hip hop greats like Jay Z and Eminem wearing the AF1s I just had to have a pair… it was love at first sight. As a street baller, the sneakers you wear are almost as important as your skills! You just can’t go wrong with these joints.

YACKO

Rap Artist (@itsyacko)

What I love most about the AF1 is how versatile its silhouette is because it goes with everything. I’ve been styling it with jeans and sweats for years. As a music artist, every time I put these on, I experience a little back-to-my-roots moment and it reminds me to never forget who I am and where I’m from.

I’ve grown up watching my hip hop idols all the way from Jay Z, Nelly and Rakim to Nas and Chance the Rapper rocking these shoes. It has become a staple for me and this shoe tells a lot of stories. Like hip hop, the Air Force 1 hustles its way into staying fresh all the time.

The Nike AF1 Mid Jewel "NYC" with ODD is launching on 29th September, 2021.
