No route. Just instinct.

The Desire Path

On June 21st, Nike and At Last Atalanta dropped runners into the edge of Epping Forest before sunrise. No course. No directions. Just checkpoints and the task of finding their own way back to London.

Run your own line

“The Desire Path” flipped the race format. There was no set route from A to B. Every runner built their own. Through forest trails, side streets, and open roads, decisions happened in real time, balancing speed, distance, and instinct.

Instinct > speed

In a normal race, the fastest wins. Here, it was different. Every move was a calculation. Every choice mattered.

From dark to daylight

The race started in silence, deep in the forest. Then the sun rose. The city appeared. The pace shifted. Runners didn’t escape London. They ran towards it.

A path that didn’t exist

Desire paths are the routes people create when they stop following the rules. This race did the same. No fixed course. No perfect answer. Just movement, instinct, and direction.
