Great Training Shoe, Major Design Flaw However
RoadRunner359 - 20 Apr 2021
I initially purchased a pair of Tempos late last year, I'm an experienced runner and put anywhere from 70-80 miles a week in training shoes. While these shoes are comfortable, they have a MAJOR design flaw. The original pair I had purchased developed structural cracking behind the air pods, the slim "bridge" between the air pods and the midsole of the lower (about 180 miles of wear). This was about a 3" crack, only on the right shoe. Nike customer service took them back, evaluated and provided me a refund to get another pair (I was pleasantly surprised). Come to later last week I bairly hit 200 miles in the "replacement" Tempos and sure enough the same thing happened again. However this time more catastrophic. The left shoe had developed the same crack in the same location, whereas the right shoe completely came apart (see pic below). I have since sent the second pair back to Nike for their "evaluation". So the same thing has happened in two different pairs of shoes (all i'm running on is solid, smooth pavement, no gravel or trail). I feel this design flaw needs to be addressed otherwise it'll never be right. Would be 5 stars without the structural issues in my opinion.
Great while it lasted

Initially loved the shoes. Took a run or two to get used to the fit but it's great for running. However, after about the 4th run they stretched out so much and have this strange indentation on the left shoe. Hope nike can address this because it was great while it lasted.
Great shoes but lacks durability

Excuse the hyperbole but these Zoom Tempo Next% have made me a better runner. They've forced me onto my toes and helped me to pick up my natural pace. They we're comfortable and fit well straight out of the box and felt super stable...to the point where it was hard to run round tight corners! I'm not worried about the slappy noise, in fact it helped warn walkers I was coming up behind them. One BIG problem though, these are designed to be regular use tempo shoes, not Sunday best, but they've just worn out super quick. I've had two pairs and both have worn through the tread on the heels and balls of the feet. The left shoe on one pair has split the tread side to side by the airbags and the right shoe on the other pair has worn through to the airbags in the same place. Luckily this means I still have a pair of odd Tempos to use while I wait for the new Vaporflys to arrive. Overall, I love them and would buy them again but it would be great if they lasted longer. Reading other reviews there are a LOT of people saying the same thing. Maybe the Next% 2s will rectify this with more durable/thicker treads.
