  • Overall downgrade from past versions

    DanielM281710175 - Mar 27, 2024

Nike had a good thing going with versions 36 and 37 of this shoe. The peg was lightweight and springy, which made it a fantastic versatile trainer. Version 39 leaned more toward the cushioned side of things, so it was good for easy runs and strides, with a nice lockdown with the upper. The upper update on version 40 makes the shoe more voluminous, and the stretchy fabric does not lock down the foot as well as the mesh on all the previous versions, not even the last version. The midsole and outsole still feel the same, but it almost feels like by widening and lengthening the last on the peg, the shoe just does not fit properly at all. I tried both a size 9 and a size 9.5 in this shoe. One was too small, and the other one was too roomy. I would recommend trying to find version 39 or wait for version 41, and hope the upper and last go back to what it was like on the older versions. The shoe is still fine for casual wear and gym work, but it does not feel like a performance running shoe in any capacity.

  • Lumpy and uncomfortable

These make my feet sore just by wearing them - not even running or walking. It feels like the design puts a lot of pressure on the outside edge of my feet. They also look lumpy and awkward on your feet and I find myself off balance frequently, maybe due to the squishiness on the outside edge which is bearing so much weight. I’m no expert in running shoes (I lift in chuck Taylor’s) but these feel poorly designed. Not a fan, sadly.

  • 39 was better

Bring back the 39s! I did not like these. Not cushioned as well as the 39s. Why change a good thing?
