Russell Westbrook is fast. These shoes match his quickness with updated cushioning, data-informed traction and a full-foot fit system to keep him in control. With a rugged utility look combined with a purposeful clash of colors and materials, this model speaks to the core of Russell's "Why Not?" mantra.

Design/Aesthetic The design of the shoes looks great overall and it’s aesthetically appealing. However, for people who like simpler or cleaner looking sneakers, these may not be the best choice for you. The design of the shoes really describes NBA basketball star Russell Westbrook’s style off the court. The official name of the colorway I got is the black/sapphire/mint foam/watermelon and this is probably one of the best colorways of the shoes that released. Materials The shoes overall is very light and breathable due to its material. However, as a result of that, there are times where I didn’t feel it is as durable as some of the other Nike basketball shoes I wore before like the Lebron 7 or Kobe 1 Protro. It will all depend on the individual to see if he/she prefer durability vs. lightness. If you prefer lightness then this will be a good choice for you. The shoe tongue was also not rigid which is how I prefer for sneakers I wear. The internal collar in the back of the shoes also provides additional layer of protection and comfort. The webbing and laces system works well overall to lock your foot in. Performance I wore the shoes for two hours playing basketball and overall was satisfactory. The pattern bite grip (i.e. data informed traction) on the sole of the shoes provides good traction on the court. Even though I was playing basketball in an outdoor basketball court, the traction was decent. While I didn’t get a chance to test this shoes in an indoor basketball court, I can imagine that traction will be decent. Given it is using the data informed traction on the sole, I can also see the traction may last longer if these are used frequently in an outdoor court. This sneaker has good cushioning overall, I didn’t see any problem with jumping and landing while playing. I believe the Jordan Why Not .5 uses the Nike Zoom cushioning system (at least part of it), which is common for Nike and Jordan basketball performance shoes. Jordan WN.5 is low top but heel containment was solid, I didn’t feel any issues or risk of rolling my ankle while playing in them. The one complaint I have is my feet did hurt after about one hour of playing but that may be due to not breaking in the shoes enough yet and may get better after more wear. Other/Fit My normal size is 10 for most sneakers and I got these shoes in a size 10 and it fit great overall. Note I have a wider feet but I would say this fits true to size. Outside of wearing and playing this on an outdoor court, I also wore this for casual wear to walk around. For casual wearing, they feel great overall but it did hurt a bit after a few hours. Similar to most shoes, they may require a few more wear to break it in, especially for someone like me with wider foot. Like/Dislike My favorite part of the shoes is the design and the colorway, it’s aesthetically appealing and can be worn on and off the court. My least favorite part of the shoes is it’s not the most comfortable basketball sneaker I worn. The other like I would highlight is the lightness of the shoes. The other dislike I would also call out is that it feels cheaper in terms of the material when comparing to other Nike basketball signature shoes. However, overall it is a solid basketball performance shoes.

Generally for most basketball shoes, they feel overly stiff out of the box and have a long break in period for me. With the Jordan WNZ.5 this was not the case! I wore them all day casually just to be safe before playing in them, and they were comfortable all day long. When I finally played in them, they performed great, no soreness or blisters which I’m prone to. They are lightweight, provide plenty of support, and overall a great basketball shoe. While I don’t think the style is great for an everyday sneaker, these are amazing BASKETBALL shoes.

I play basketball 2-3 days a week and have had a lot of experience with many different basketball shoes over the years. These are pretty average in terms of comfort. The fit is slightly long and narrow but I would not recommend sizing up due to the length. I used them on outdoor basketball courts about 4-5 times now and these have held up better than expected but nothing that blows me away. They were comfortable enough to last for 2-3 hour sessions on the court but I found myself relieved to take them off after due to the narrow fit. While playing, they felt supportive and agile enough to play at a high level. I was able to move quickly and the grip gave me enough power to explode to the basket. As for style, I love the way these shoes look. The colors are enough pop without drawing too much attention since the base color is black. Materials are well made and I could see these lasting just fine for outdoor use around a year depending on how much you play. My favorite part of this shoe has got to be the materials and colors. They are light enough for a good hoop session and durable enough to use outdoors. The only thing I would change about this shoe is the fit. Making them slightly wider without increasing the length would go a long way for bigger guys like me. Overall, I would recommend this product to my friends, especially if you see a color scheme that you're into!
