FEATURED PHANTOM: HARRY KANE
KANE STRIKES GOLD
Last summer as the best nations in soccer left everything they had on the pitch, one player netted more goals than anyone else: Harry Kane. The first Spurs player to score over 20 goals in five straight seasons (not to mention bringing England to their best showing in over 50 years), for Kane, it all comes down to doing what he does best for his team—finishing plays.
TEAM OVER TROPHIES
For Kane, it’s all about the team. “I'd prefer a team trophy over a golden boot any day of the week,” he says. But as a striker, scoring is his contribution to the team. “Goals are my job. I'm a striker. It's what I'm paid to do.” And it’s pretty obvious he loves his job. “It's one of the best feelings in the world to score a goal … That adrenaline rush you get is just amazing.”
FOCUSED ON FINISHING
You don’t become the highest-scoring player in the world’s biggest tournament without an obsessing over finishing. “I always like to practice every type of finish, every different kind of angle, because in a match you just never know what you're gonna get,” Kane says. Angled strike blades on the Phantom Venom’s instep help with Kane’s precision, whether he’s dropping a ball over a wall of defenders in a game-deciding set piece or sneaking a quick shot under the keeper.
