Hey guys, I’m AZ and I am about to take you behind the design of Patta’s latest collaboration with Nike. We’re at Patta HQ in Amsterdam with Gee and Vincent of Patta and sneaker archivist Magdi. We’re about to give you all of the tea on this latest release. 

Why and how these two silhouettes were used to create a performance lifestyle hybrid in true Patta style. We are so used to seeing people wear a lot of retro styles. 

A lot of those styles, obviously, we’re also performance pieces. Whether they were tracksuits or like the stuff that you genuinely wear, like Air Maxes were actually also meant to be ran on.

It was always a dream to really work on something substantial like with Edson’s ethos it should serve two purposes. And also, what Patta is. It’s like lifestyle and performance 

especially when it’s about this running team, I think that’s important. So, this pair is quite special. There are two OG silhouettes in here. We’ve got the Pegasus and we’ve got the Huarache as well. You know the Huarache plus, 

This is the first time we’ve seen this upper back on the market since ’93. So for them to add the Pegasus 40 midsole right, which is a shoe that has basically come out last year 

it just adds a futuristic, advanced version of a running shoe with a ’93 aesthetic. I think the most impressive part is the additional strap. 

In the original, there is not this strap. So, we had to add the strap for extra grip here, because it was too loose. Normally, there is no wear testing, but now actual runners are going to test it out and see what’s coming out. 

That actually also influenced the design. That it is actually an upgrade to what this is. For us that’s also an exciting new step of course, from a Patta point of view. 

What can we expect from the apparel side? It’s unisex so were there any challenges amongst that? Cause obviously Patta is pretty good at splitting it often. Yes, there’s definitely challenges that we’ve had. Like people from our team, 

on our design team, obviously you have some women working there. Felicia and Flo, they really put their efforts in there. There’re things in the collection like tights, and it has specifics on 

how it looks good on a man and how it looks good on woman, you know. Also fitting size, you have shorts, you have t-shirts, obviously 

we couldn’t stay away from a tracksuit. Any opportunity we have to make a tracksuit, we’ll make one and this one is banging

to say the least, it’s really good. The whole thinking, or the ideation about this whole apparel collection should be possible to use for lifestyle. So, I think people will really mix it up. 

I mean, when I put this on earlier, I was like I could go out in this, I could also go to the gym in this. So, I guess that is the whole philosophy, right? That’s the whole thing, yes. I think it’s sick. Well thanks guys, I appreciate your design efforts.
