Doyenne is a brand and design studio, that started in Glasgow. It's run by women, our roots have always stayed in skateboarding. 

We started this collaboration in 2020. The design process was layered form the details regarding sustainability, inclusivity, ungendered clothing and accessibility. 

We took inspiration from women artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe, she wore the same jacket all of her life. We wanted to think just the full life cycle of the product. And then we evolute to something beautiful- a timeless piece, but also very practical and durable.  

Our really good friend created a painting for us, that we then reworked and created a pattern from, which was then divided into different colourways. 

We chose the blazer because it's such an iconic design, especially in the skateboarding culture. The challenge was to create a shoe that was durable, but it had good sustainable material. The body of the shoe is made of pineapple canvas and pineapple denim.

Everything on the upper side is undyed. We incorporated an elasticated side on the tongue of the shoe. We mixed different recycled rubbers of the colours of our prints. Underneath there's this like, reveal of colour, and its unique for each shoe.

We tried to put many details that were reflecting inclusivity and accessibility. You can cuff the trousers, you can close the button on the jacket, to make it fit depending on your wrist. We have a magnetic button on the jacket, its easy to wear while skating. 

We wanted to create clothes that celebrated the duality of the opposites, that’s how the reversibility of the garments came about. You can mix and match and everything still goes with each other.

It's really just designing clothes that you can skate with, that is what we want to celebrate, so I just love that.

The more you skate, you will see the coloured rubber coming through, we call it ruin-ability because it becomes more beautiful the more you use it, and it shows the story of the shoe.  

We're planting the seeds that we want to see for creativity and skateboarding and design. This project is all about individuality, we can't wait to see how people are going to make the collection theirs. 

This collection really represents us as a brand, from the colours, the materials, the concept behind it. But mostly we hope it represents all the people that feel they were not represented in the community.
