TWO ICONS RE-IMAGINED.
An alternative history becomes reality with the Nike DNA Series '87 x '91. The box set includes re-imagined versions of both the revolutionary Air Max 1 and the Air Huarache. The iconic features of each shoe have been swapped, blending the creativity and innovation that designer Tinker Hatfield brought to the sneakers.
Air Max 1 '87
The legendary Air Max 1 '87 gets updated with Air Huarache materials and details. Soft fabric wraps the ankle while double rows of lacing holes let you personalise your look. A rubber heel band adds support while leather and textile in the upper add durability.
Air Huarache '91
The iconic comfort of the Air Huarache '91 gets a lift with materials and details from the Air Max 1. It features synthetic suede and mesh in the upper, and a durable multi-coloured rubber sole for a flashy, street-ready look. Air Max 1 details like the hard plastic lacing plate and its classic colour-blocking add style to comfort.
More Benefits
Huarache Origins
The Nike Air Huarache released in 1991. Footwear designer Tinker Hatfield wanted to combine the fit of neoprene water-ski boots with the functionality of South American sandals. The instant hit found its way to basketball courts and then the streets, where it earned its status as an icon.
Nike Air Max Origins
Revolutionary Air technology first made its way into Nike footwear in 1978. In 1987, the Air Max 1 debuted with visible Air technology in its heel, allowing fans more than just the feel of Air cushioning—suddenly they could see it. Since then, next-generation Air Max shoes have become a hit with athletes and collectors by offering striking colour combinations and reliable, lightweight cushioning.
