Bottom line up front: the popping noise stops after a distance run/one day of wearing around the office. The water resistant material just needs to break in. I have plantar fasciitis and wear these to run as well as walk during the day at work. The cushioning works wonders to prevent aggravations. The reviews of the popping sound are warranted. But it DOES stop. I assumed it was the material and that it would stop. It did. And in less time than I anticipated. I would wear these 24/7 if I could. I have always enjoyed the pegasus variant of Nike runners.

Have been using nike shield runners for years, alway super happy with them as I buy at least 2/3 pairs a year. This years model popping sound when walking, really annoying. Also I can feel the triangle section in the sole after a few weeks of running, which becomes very uncomfortable and starts to hurt the soles of my feet. Compared too last years model pretty disappointing. Nike could do with trying out their models on people who actually put up the miles in them.
