Sustainability never rests. We're constantly rethinking and reinventing the materials that go into each and every one of our products.
Nike Flyknit
Nike Flyknit is precision-engineered with an average of 60% less waste than traditional footwear upper manufacturing. In the fabrication of Flyknit, 31 million water bottles were diverted from landfills in 2019 alone.
Nike Flyleather
Nike Flyleather is made from at least 50% recycled leather fibre and has a smaller carbon footprint than traditional leather manufacturing. Flyleather also improves cutting efficiency and creates less waste than traditional cut-and-sew methods for full-grain leather.
Nike Air
Nike Air soles designed since 1994 contain at least 50% recycled manufacturing waste and since 2008 have been made with 100% renewable energy at our AirMI facilities. We reuse more than 90% of the waste from materials used for our Air soles to make new, innovative cushioning systems.
Recycled Polyester
Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than 7 billion plastic bottles from landfills. Our recycled poly is made from plastic bottles, pre-consumer textile scraps and post-consumer garments.
Sustainable Cotton
Since 2010, we've been on a drive toward 100% sustainable cotton. Certified organic cotton, recycled cotton and the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) are three ways that we are pushing sustainability in our materials.
Sustainable Blends
Combining recycled polyester and organic cotton creates a performance material that reduces carbon emissions and uses less water and chemicals than virgin polyester blends with conventionally grown cotton.

A New Shipping Box
This is more than just a box—it has been optimized to reduce half of its average carbon footprint. It is also produced with FSC certified materials, ensuring the cardboard comes from recycled sources and the wood from well managed forests. Discover more about these efforts by interacting with one.
European Logistics Campus
When you ship so many orders every year globally, finding ways to do this more sustainably has a real impact. For example, The Court, our newest distribution center, is powered completely by renewable energy and recycles 95% of its waste. We are sourcing renewables on-site and from the neighborhood using 5 different sources; Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Biomass, and Hydro. They are the right steps towards our vision for a low-carbon, low-waste future. On top of that, we have pledged to never ship our products via any sea route in the delicate Arctic ecosystem.
