Specially designed to fit the shape of Japanese feet, Air Footscape's Ueno City Attack is a legendary project still talked about today.

And it wasn't long before this rich crocodile-print version was snapped up all over the country.

This Air Force 1 design took inspiration from the Ueno district of Tokyo, a hub for sneaker culture, with a laser-embossed pattern of sakura flowers in full bloom.

The 500 pairs that were only sold in Ueno are an icon of the CO.JP line, and are still sought out across the world today.

The 1990s vintage boom made Dunks out of reach for many. CO.JP began as a way to bring back classic designs in a market where many pairs were difficult to get.

It was then that this Dunk with the original colours inverted was released in the 'City Attack' Pack.

This Air Force 1 design paid homage to the colours of the 1985 Terminators, an elusive jewel in the '90s vintage market.

By sampling a classic and reinventing it for the streets of the 21st century, it embodied Tokyo culture.

The 2006 Beast Pack is a gorgeous design combining animal prints with different materials.

The embroidered word "beast" enhanced a bold upper design that mixed leopard, tiger and snake prints.

Having been at the forefront of the global sneaker boom, Japan knows '90s outdoor and vintage culture better than anywhere else.

The Storm Packs feature colouring reminiscent of early ACG designs, bridging the gap between outdoor and street.

This Air Max 90 was inspired by the late '80s Escape Series, designed to connect the city and nature.

As a model symbolic of the package strategy that saw shared colour schemes applied to different designs, it made waves around the world.

This blend of striking jade-like turquoise and an animal print pattern coincided with a major Dunk SB movement.

The innovative upper with patterns on the reflectors was a game changer at the time.
