Shox Z Calistra x LABELHOOD

For me, movement is everything. Clothes are meant to be worn. You never want something to be too serious. Hi everyone, I'm Dani Kawaii. I'm a ceramics artist based in Los Angeles, and this is my episode of SNKRS Style.

I would say my spell is very sporty. It's very fun. It's a little flirty, and that's what just makes me feel like me. Now for my first look, I love the way this look plays with silhouette and texture. Let's get into it. For the first look, it definitely started with this top. 

I really like the texture and the layers to it. I really like how this top leads into the laces on the shoes. I imagine myself wearing this to a basketball game. This is a ceramic basketball bag that I made. 

I upcycled a basketball chain net and added that as a detail onto the bag. As I found my creative voice, I lean a lot towards softer shapes. 

So now for my second look, it's a little bit more sporty, more comfortable, very functional. Let's try it on. For the top, I wanted to layer a couple pieces. I really like layering clothes because 

when one of the layers just fits right, it just feels like the whole fit was made for you. For this look, I wanted something that I could go and do, honestly, anything in. There's a lot of contrast between the top and the shoes. 

I think that's kind of the fun part about personal styling. You can really wear whatever you want. Now for my third look, this is something that I would love to work in and just makes me feel like me. This is my signature look. 

I love an oversized pant just because I think it feels so familiar to me just growing up playing basketball, always being in basketball shorts. The jewelry I have, actually, my uncle made it, so it all feels good to wear something that someone else made.

I just have a lot of appreciation for other handmade things, so craftsperson to craftsperson, it just makes sense. 

If Dani Kawaii had a uniform, it would definitely be large shorts, large pants, something of good quality I can wipe my hands off on and a little top so my hands can move. 

And then some sort of cute but functional shoe, something athletic, a little bit feminine. That's the sweet spot. 

What I really love about what Labelhood has done with the Shox Z and what I want to do in my work is highlight the softness and femininity of sport. I'm Dani Kawaii, and thank you for watching my episode of SNKRS Style.
