Everything You Need to Know About the Best Nike Cycling Shoes

For indoor cyclists looking to make the most of a workout on the stationary bike, a pair of indoor cycling shoes is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can invest in. If you're used to stuffing normal sneakers inside the bike's pedal cages for your workout, do yourself a favour and try riding with a pair of cycling shoes clipped into the pedals.

By clipping in, you won't have to worry about your shoes sliding around or slipping inside the pedal cages. That way, you can focus on the ride.

In fact, a 2020 study from the University of Colorado Boulder found that cyclists who wore stiff-soled cycling shoes had improved cycling performance during high-power, uphill sprints compared with those who wore normal, more flexible running shoes.

The Nike SuperRep Cycle was designed to be durable and sturdy. The external plate under the shoes is combined with compatible studs for a solid connection to each pedal. And, the stiff internal plate under the foot helps optimise energy return. That means your foot doesn't have to work quite as hard with each pedal stroke, so you can focus on proper form and engage other muscles in your legs.

The shoe was designed to be compatible with two standard types of studs that you attach to the bottom of indoor cycling shoes—two-hole studs and three-hole studs. While the studs aren't included with purchase, you can attach either type of stud to the shoe. Before picking out studs to go with your shoes, make sure you check which type is compatible with the pedals on the stationary bike you're using.

When it comes to the upper of the shoes, you'll find lightweight mesh fabric that helps circulate airflow to the feet and increases breathability. Vents on the sole of the shoe help maximise airflow, too. And the adjustable hook-and-loop straps help secure your foot inside the shoes.

To prevent slipping while off the bike, rubber is placed under the heel and toe to provide better traction. Finally, they're easy to get on and off, with a closure that opens extra wide and an ergonomic pull tab so you can get your feet in or out with ease.
