CLASS 1977

NIKE BLAZER

Italian retailer Slam Jam celebrates its 30th birthday in which we’ve partnered to launch a special Vintage ‘77 edition of the Nike Blazer. Characterised by a retro look in grey and off-white, its most striking feature is the upturned Swoosh on the inner side, literally flipping the script. The words ‘CLASS’ and ‘1977’ feature on the heel tabs in a nod to the shoe’s OG heritage.

In 1973, Nike rocked basketball courts everywhere with the launch of the Blazer. Named after the Portland Trail Blazers, the shoe was first worn by George "The Iceman" Gervin (of the San Antonio Spurs). It featured a leather upper and vulcanized rubber sole, typical of ‘70s sneakers, but as Nike focused on new technologies the Blazer left the court to be adopted by the skate scene, giving it a new place in street culture.

Its home among skaters was confirmed in 2005 when Lance Mountain announced his collaboration with Nike on a Blazer SB, sporting added padding on the tongue and a few other tweaks that made the shoe officially board-ready.
