A guadeloupe-i születésű Meddy Elice laza, hétköznapi és időnként funky stílusban vív. Persze, a királyok arisztokratikus sportjának mindig része volt az egyfajta kalandorkodó stílus, de Meddy modern csavart ad mindennek. Miután láttuk akcióban a 24 éves vívót az Eric Tabarly sportkomplexumban, abban a párizsi külvárosban lévő, világszínvonalú sportlétesítményben, ahol Meddy edzeni szokott, megkérdeztük, hogyan hozza be egyedi stílusát ebbe a tradicionális sportágba.  ## A vívást gyakran elitistának tartják. Miután hetekig rosszalkodtam otthon, és megtagadtam, hogy segítsek a házimunkában, az anyukánk eldöntötte, hogy sportklubba fogunk járni, ezzel kompenzálva a hiperaktivitásunkat. A klubban, amit választott nekünk, volt karate-, judo- és vívóedzés is. Először határozottan jobban érdekeltek a küzdősportok, és karatézni akartam \[megtanulni]. A bátyámnak viszont sokkal pontosabb elképzelései voltak. Az első pillanattól fogva tudta, hogy vívónak akar tanulni, mert megihlette a guadeloupe-i olimpiai bajnok, Laura Flessel. Valószínűleg egy kicsit szerelmes is volt belé. Laura egy egész generációt inspirált a sikeres olimpiai szerepléseivel \[1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athén], amelyek során összesen öt aranyérmet szerzett. Nekünk guadeloupe-iaknak ő családtag.  ## Mesélj nekünk a családodról. Több bátyád is van, igaz? A bátyáim nagyon különböznek abban, ahogy érintkeznek velem és ahogy segítenek engem. A legidősebb \[Jerry], és leginkább egy apafigura a számomra. Rendszeresen felkeres, meggyőződik arról, hogy jól vagyok, és csak amolyan meghatározhatatlan módon biztat. Azt akarja, hogy vegyem nagyon komolyan az életem felnőttként, és azt, ami a sportkarrier után várhat rám. Morgan, aki nagyon sok örömet szerzett nekem. Mindig arra ösztönöz, hogy legyek pozitív. Mike sosem versengett velem. Mindig a helyes irányba terel. Ebben édesanyámra ütött. Édesanyám mindig elmondja, hogy legyünk büszkék magunkra, de sose érezzük azt, hogy bárkivel szemben felsőbbrendűek lennénk. Az alázat a családunk meghatározó értéke. ## Milyen vívóstílust részesítesz előnyben? Én tőröző vagyok. Ez a leggyakoribb fegyvernem a sportágunkban. Precíziós fegyver, ezért gyorsnak és türelmesnek is kell lenned. A tőrvívásnak a legklasszikusabb a technikája, azonban azt nem mondhatom, hogy az én stílusom is klasszikus lenne. A legfőbb vonásom, hogy nagyon gyors vagyok, amivel meg tudom lepni az ellenfelet. De néha nem sikerül türelmesnek maradnom a szekvenciák során. Nagyon szokatlanul, és ha mondhatok ilyet, légiesen vívok. Van a stílusomban egy könnyedség, amit szeretek. Funkynak, kötetlennek és hóbortosnak is nevezték már azt, ahogy versenyzem. ## „Funkynak, kötetlennek és hóbortosnak is nevezték már azt, ahogy versenyzem.”  ## Párizsról és a vívásról is az az általános vélemény, hogy mindkettő nagyon elegáns és stílusos. Milyen hatással van a stílus az életedre? Szeretem a vívásban, hogy stílusos sport. Párizs segített nekem, hogy megerősítsem magamban az egyedi stílusom. Meg kellett változtatnom a stílusom, miután idekerültem a Karib-térségből. Szeretem a hozzáférhető és szép dolgokat. Szeretek művészeti előadásokra vagy fotókiállításokra menni, hogy a szemeimet is élesítsem, és más dolgokat is lássak.
