Behind The Design: Nike SB Zoom Tennis Classic x Rassvet

How many dawns is during the process every day towards something? My name is Anatoly Titaev.

I currently live in Barcelona, Spain. Either you’re an athlete or you’re a fashion designer. Rather than having the feeling of a prize at the end, it is actually

the enjoyment of a pure process. My inspiration, the name, comes from the grids that they put in to protect your windows. So there’s always the sun rising.

And this kind of led to Rassvet, which means dawn. When I started skating, Nike SB started to produce skate shoes. It was called Air Classic. I really loved

this shoe. When I needed to do the collaboration, I was just thinking how to basically merge all of these identities together. The shoe, Nike colors, what Nike used to do, what’s true to Rassvet. Starting with the swoosh.

I feel like there were many times when you’re skating and the swoosh was just falling off because there was no thread left. I also was talking about some bowling shoes, a shoe that you can skate and go to the club with.


Phillip from Nike design team said he has a really cool, sleek leather on the bowling shoe. There’s a lot of detail. Even when we were designing the shoe, Tony was like, “I want the tongue to just be a little shorter than what you see on the regular.”

I actually was inspired by Dennis Murphy’s colorway for Nike Air Classic, and basically going from the black to navy is that very first light.

Going back and forth of, like, is this the right color? Does it fade right betweent these two colors? What color should we try to hit between that fade on the sock liner? Also echoing this classic Nike Pro Edge tongue.

Skateboarding and fashion, that’s really important to me. The shoe will exist in both worlds and be cool in both worlds.
