Taking its DNA from Toren Orzeck’s 1996 Air Footscape and 2000’s Mike Aveni-designed Air Woven, the outlandish Air Footscape Woven was born in ’06 and immediately achieved cult status, becoming especially big in Japan.

The beautiful game’s most famous global tournament provided the inspiration for this 2006 collection, with each colourway paying homage to the flag of one of eight nations. This is where the journey of the world-renowned Footscape Woven began.

Part of a larger Nike collection, this Air Footscape Woven was made using the world’s best-known tweed. Donald John MacKay, from the Isle of Harris, conceived this pair using the legendary Scottish fabric.

Few shoes scream Fragment louder than the Footscsape Woven, and although the Japanese powerhouse worked on other silhouettes, this is considered a grail by collectors. That dot pattern was used by the brand across other mid-noughties products, but this execution is arguably the most revered.

Inspired by reggae, this Footscape Woven boasts a hemp upper in red, gold and green. It was initially limited to 24 pairs and came in a special wooden box. A wider global release followed shortly after.

Fast-forward to 2012 and another Footscape Woven reinvention, this time transforming it into a chukka boot with a chunkier, speckled Free Motion sole unit and the symbols 04Z on the tongue tab - a reference to the colour code of the rainbow weave.
