Bought it for a trip to Southern Peru around Machu Picchu, the Sacred Trail, the surrounding rocky roads of Arequipa, several Ica cities and finally Lima the capital. The Terra Kiger was with me on all walks (found it comfy to wear in the airplane), and it handled very well, excellent, until Huacachina. The Huacachina sand dunes were the Waterloo for the Terra. They sunk on the loose grain and did not provide needed surface traction. I got so tired climbing dunes that my friends had to leave tracks for me to walk on. The only reason I do not give them a 5 star.

I have had three pair’s, 1 from last year, 2* of the model 8’s. They’re my favorite hiking shoe. They’re rugged, comfortable and responsive. The toe box is roomy. The laces stay tight. I don’t get foot slippage going downhill. They stay dry. Tom of traction. Look great. No real complaints. Could possibly be a tiny bit lighter if I really wanted to nitpick.

I have worn the TK back to the 3 and for me, this is the best update yet. I took these to Switzerland and did three very challenging hikes/downhill trail running (totals up to 15 miles), with significant elevation gain in varied terrain (forest and above the tree line, rocks, roots, scrambles, ladders, safety ropes and cables, etc.). These were amazing - super comfortable out of the box with great cushion and great grip. Worn with thinner Defeet and Darn Tough merino wool socks - no blisters nor hot spots. My feet felt very well taken care of after each outing and I'm looking forward to more hikes and trail runs with them. These also packed down very nicely in a compression bag in the bottom of my carry-on backpack for travel. So good I bought another pair on the way home!
