My name is Hafsiya, I’m from Amsterdam, I work at Patta and I do crocheting on the side. My name is Virgil, I live in Amsterdam, I like to keep myself busy. I do a lot. I started out with 

making ski masks for people on scooters. One of my creations is the fitted flat cap, which I’m also wearing. I like to organise events, but I’m also an entrepreneur, I’m a host, I’m an MC, I do parties, I do

management for an artist; I also like to do events where we contribute to the community. I spend most of my time actually trying to design new stuff. So, what the Air Max 1 means to me as an Amsterdammer: it’s a shoe that’s just a staple for

the city. Growing up around my dad’s store in the city centre of Amsterdam, I used to see all these men wearing the Air Max 1 outside of the store, hanging out. When I was a bit younger and really enthusiastic going into sneaker

stores, I saw the Air Max 1 on shelves. For us, we always wanted to express ourselves by wearing the dopest shoes. Fast-forwards many years later: the same guys are wanting the same shoe. The shoe, for us, will never die out. The Air Max 1, for me,

is a icon amongst these silhouettes. Most of the people know the Air Max ’87, but not a lot of people know that the Air Max ’86 was a actually a prototype, where a lot of this actually started.
