It's a full-garment innovation. Every element, from the yarn to the knit structure to the mesh placement, is engineered to work together. ## High-Crimp Yarn The Aero-FIT knitting process creates a high-crimp material at the yarn and stitch levels, engineered into the fabric itself, rather than applied as a coating or post-production treatment. This fabric innovation fundamentally builds breathability into the garment, creating space for airflow to reach the skin. ## Elliptical Mesh Zones Visible elliptical mesh openings are positioned at the body's highest heat points during running motion, channelling airflow exactly where runners need it most. Those placements were determined by sport-specific heat maps and biomechanical mapping by Nike's design team, which tracked precisely how air interacts with a runner's body in motion. Elliptical mesh zones work together to lift fabric off the skin, reducing cling even when the material is saturated with sweat. ## Colour Theory as Function The lighter-coloured mesh zones are intentionally visible to show runners where the extra breathability lives. "Runners can look at an Aero-FIT garment and know something's different", says Kenta Araki, product line manager, Nike Global Running Apparel. "The colour highlights the innovation". ## Aero-FIT vs Dri-FIT: What's the Difference? Most runners know Nike Dri-FIT. It moves sweat away from the skin for faster evaporation, keeping you dry and comfortable. Aero-FIT does something different: it moves air in. Dri-FIT manages moisture after your body produces it. Aero-FIT works to prevent heat from building up in the first place by drawing airflow through the garment and across the skin while you're in motion. Through an advanced chemical recycling process, fabric scraps are broken down and respun into recycled polyester yarn that performs identically to virgin fibre, with no compromise on breathability, structure or feel. ## Tested in Real Conditions Aero-FIT's cooling performance was validated not just on elite athletes in the Mojave Desert. It was also tested on 24 recreational runners in real training conditions over eight weeks. Testers logged more than 15 wears each in temperatures ranging from 13 to 35 °C, running outdoors and indoors in sunny, cloudy and rainy conditions across major cities in the US. Every tester reported being satisfied with the material feel. The feedback on breathability was consistent. "The fabric never rubs or causes irritation even in the sweatiest, hottest temps", says one tester. "The top was so breathable and fluid", says another.
