Sabrina Ionescu and Nike unveil the latest addition to the Sabrina line

Basketball icon and WNBA champion Sabrina Ionescu is coming off her most successful season yet. It is only fitting that she is also building a successful performance shoe line that now includes her third signature model.

Together, Sabrina and Nike set out to deliver a shoe that provides the real hooper everything they need and want in a basketball shoe — while telling a deeper story around Sabrina herself.

"I know every single basketball player who puts on the Sabrina 3 will continue to see and feel the work that we've put in to create the best performance shoe that we can", says Sabrina. "This shoe represents so much of me, from the vertical Swoosh that we've had since the Sabrina 1 to the design touches personal to me. I hope it inspires all hoopers, especially young girls, helping them continue to break down barriers and believe in themselves".

Sabrina's third Dri-FIT apparel accompanies the shoe launch and includes a pair of unisex pants and shorts and some tops, as well as T-shirts for women, men and kids.

The Sabrina signature series has become a fast favourite among hoopers everywhere. The Zoom unit in the forefoot and the Cushlon 3.0 midsole have proven to be a winning combination, ensuring a plush, responsive feel and grippy, multidirectional traction for precise cuts.

But, as Sabrina knows, the best can always get better. So, she and the team at Nike determined to upgrade her go-to trainer and create the ultimate court shoe (again).

For this new model, Sabrina determined to keep the top-rated cushioning and traction of earlier models but add support and containment. The design team responded with an updated cable system in the midfoot. Mesh pleats hug the foot on the upper, acting as a tunnel for the cables to run through, which provides a locked-in sensation that keeps you feeling stable on the court.

"The Sabrina 3 builds on the consistency we've established with Sabrina's first two signature silhouettes while evolving the look and feel of the shoe to match her needs on the court and further reflect her personal story and style", says Ben Nethongkome, the lead designer for Sabrina's footwear. "The Sabrina 1 and 2 made her signature line a go-to choice for hoopers around the world, and we wanted to keep that standout performance and consistency while helping make Sabrina, and the athletes who wear her shoe, even faster, stronger and more confident in every step".

The addition of a lace loop on the heel in the kids version also makes the Sabrina 3 easier to pull on, so youth ballers can be ready to put in work anytime.

It wasn't enough for the Sabrina 3 to perform well — it had to celebrate the player herself. The design team took inspiration from Sabrina's Romanian roots, using pleats and embroidery to form the backbone of the shoe's upper and midfoot. The strong but flexible textiles offer function while turning the shoe into a work of art.

You'll also find a new traction pattern introduced in the Sabrina 3 — the letter 'S' in a concentric pattern is a subtle nod to the shoe's namesake. The vertical, off-axis Swoosh on the arch side of the shoe — to represent shattering the glass ceiling — is back, consistent with the Sabrina 1 and 2.
