When you normalize the needs of LGBTQIA+ athletes, it creates a welcoming environment for them to participate.  ## Set the Tone | Advocacy A coach’s attitude and behaviors are often mirrored by their players. Championing respectful practices and being intentional about your language can set the tone for your team and show them what a great ally looks like.  ## Stay Informed | Awareness Creating a safe environment that is respectful of a full spectrum of identities and pronouns starts with being an informed ally. Stay on top of your game with regular LGBTQIA+ education for both you and your team.  ## Hold Space | Integrity & Confidentiality It is always their story to tell. Unless they ask for help, assure trans and non-binary athletes that you will not share any information about their identity.  ## Listen to Learn | Empathy Your initial reaction to the experiences of LGBTQIA+ players is everything.
