Finding the right back-to-school backpack comes down to fit, capacity and personal style. Shopping for cute back-to-school backpacks can be a challenging task — especially if you’re looking for a backpack for a choosy student — but Nike has a wide range to suit a variety of tastes.
This guide covers the best Nike backpacks for kids by grade level, from lightweight mini packs for kindergarteners to high-capacity styles built for pre-teens hauling a full load.
## Quick Takeaways:
- Nike offers backpacks to suit different age ranges, including K to first, second to sixth grade, middle school and up.
- Capacity matters. Choose from six-liter mini packs up to 30-liter-plus backpacks for older students.
- Nike options include multiple key silhouettes: the Heritage 2.0, Brasilia, Elemental, Heritage Mini and Commute.
- New styles from Nike include the Heritage Tote and Commute Backpack for older kids and teens.
- Look for padded straps, laptop sleeves and water bottle pockets for everyday function.

## Nike Brasilia and JDI Mini Prints
Consider one of Nike's most trusted silhouettes, the Nike Brasilia. The Nike Brasilia is a solid option for kids in second through sixth grade. It features new colorways and graphic prints in the same dependable product parents trust. These backpacks are big enough for books, tablets and lunchboxes but still sized for smaller bodies. Look for features like dual compartments, mesh water bottle pockets and comfy haul loops.
For the younger set, the Nike Brasilia JDI is a mini backpack with all the must-have details: padded straps, front pockets and seasonal prints that stand out in the hallway.
## Nike Elemental
The Nike Elemental backpack is a trusted option, delivering both versatility and space for school essentials, a laptop, and even gym gear or extra kicks. Multiple zippered pockets keep tech and must-haves secure and easy to grab. Plus, it’s made with at least 65% recycled polyester fibers.
This kids’ backpack pops with bright colors and warm graphics, ideal for elementary-aged kids who want to return to school showing off summer vibes. It comes with a bonus pencil case that clips onto the backpack for extra storage.
## Nike Heritage 2.0
An updated version of the Heritage silhouette, the Nike Heritage backpack 2.0 is designed for students in second through sixth grade and middle school. This bag has a roomy main compartment with a sleeve that’s large enough to hold a 15” laptop. Two zippered pockets make it easy to stash essentials; it comes with up to 23 liters of space and is available in a range of neutral and vibrant colorways to give kids plenty of options to choose from.
For younger kids, the Nike Heritage Mini is a 6-liter option that can be converted from a backpack into a shoulder bag and back again.
## Nike Drawstring Bags
For after-school activities or days when a full-size backpack isn’t needed, Nike’s drawstring bags offer a simple, lightweight option. Easy to stash, they’re perfect for gym clothes, cleats or packing extra layers for outdoor activities for students of all ages.
For older kids craving a more structured bag, there’s the Brasilia Duffel. It’s a sturdier, roomier alternative to drawstring bags, with multiple pockets, including a ventilated outer pouch for post-exercise gear.
## Nike Heritage Tote
The Heritage Tote is a sleek option for older kids and teens who want an alternative carry style. The tote offers a 63-liter capacity, with plenty of space for a laptop and books. There’s a zip closure on the main compartment to keep items secure, along with zippered accessories pockets inside and outside for organization. A built-in luggage slip allows this bag to do double-duty during travel.
## Nike Commute Backpack
A cool back-to-school backpack with a 25-liter capacity, the Nike Commute backpack has everything teens need for school and beyond. The backpack has an internal sleeve to house a laptop up to 15 inches, along with a padded back panel for comfort during long commutes. A zippered front pocket keeps smaller essentials secure. There’s also a zippered expandable pocket on the side with room for most water bottles. A detachable mini bag is this backpack’s hidden superpower.
