This collaboration is the latest in a series of partnerships between Jordan Brand and Mexican and Latin American communities, showcasing the brand’s ongoing commitment to Latin American culture and sneaker fans. [](https://www.nike.com/w/jordan-shoes-37eefzy7ok) Much thoughtful creativity went into the design of the Air Jordan V El Grito to uniquely showcase and represent Mexican culture in all its various forms — from its colors and textures to its geography and people. In fact, the shoe is chock-full of tiny details that represent Latin culture both on its exterior and the interior. Beginning with the exterior, the shoe’s white leather upper features embossed details on the tongue, toe and heel. Each detail is inspired by the artisan crafts and textures for which Mexico is known, such as its colorful glazed and decorated pottery called Talavera. El Grito’s red and green lace locks boldly contrast with the white sneaker. A geometric design pattern in burgundy lining the shoe adds a pop of color. The shoe’s dubraes — a decorative embellishment added to the front of the laces that’s long been associated with the Nike brand — is engraved with the word "viva" for an added touch. Rapper, composer and songwriter El Malilla is the star of the Air Jordan V El Grito campaign, which he proudly gets behind. “The Jumpman \[logo] is from the hood and today we have one from Mexico, to Mexico," he says.
