Eunice represented her country in the 1500m at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She’s a competitor, and a pro in every sense of the word. She has a warm, easy smile that gets bigger around her teammates.

Eunice, who turns 26 this month, set a personal best last year in the 800m at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow (1:57:38), winning the gold. Still, she says she hasn’t reached her limit.

“NEXT SEASON MY GOAL IS TO RUN MY PERSONAL BEST.”

Her stride is long, propelled from the balls of her feet. She spends more time in the air than on the ground, and every stride carries her farther than it seems it should. She's the pinnacle of natural motion.

She's not particularly surprised by her country's success in the sport. “Every day we're training; it takes dedication, determination. We work hard.”

“IF I COULDN’T RACE ANYMORE? I’D JUST RUN FASTER SO I COULD.”
