Carl turned professional in 2000 after winning his European Tour card at qualifying school. He had some early success, winning the 2002 Algarve Open de Portugal, and earning his PGA Tour card at Q-school that same year. Carl now plays mainly in America, where he won his first PGA Tour title in 2005, becoming only the third Swede to win on tour. He added victories in 2006, 2008, 2010 and most recently at the 2012 RBC Heritage. 2012 also saw Carl finish T-3 at the PGA Championship and finish top-10 in six PGA events.
