Having just turned professional in July 2011, Scott qualified for the 2012 Race to Dubai in heart-stopping fashion, shooting a 65 on the final day of the 2011 Qualifying School. These dramatic finishes are nothing new to Scott—in 2010 he sank a six-foot birdie on the final hole of the NCAA Southeast Regional to send Arizona State University to the NCAA Tournament, and he finished second at the South Central-Colorado Regional in 2011 to lead the Sun Devils to the NCAA finals. Scott also played in his first major, the U.S. Open, in 2011 after tying for the top spot in sectional qualifying.
