Deron Williams: Pick & Roll

The screen is a point guard's best friend and it can be used to set up a range of plays. Start with a basic pick and roll to get yourself open for a shot.

Play Breakdown

  1. Protect your dribble

    Stay in control. Keep your defender on your back and away from the ball.

  2. Set up the screen

    Get the play started by calling your big man over to set the screen.

  3. Brush off screen

    Wait until your big man is in position then cut around him. Make sure you brush shoulders with him so your defender can't slide between you and your man and make a play on the ball.

  4. Pull up for jumper

    Once you get free from your defender, pull up for the open midrange jumper.
