Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)
Polyurethane is an extremely versatile material. Its toughness, high tear strength, and outstanding abrasion resistance make it ideal for many demanding applications. The wide range of choices in formulations ensure that the material chosen for a particular application will do the job. The ease of fabrication also allows for a great deal of flexibility in choosing the method of secondary processing. In general, most polyurethanes are grouped into two basic types; these are:
Polyether Base Merits Has greater resistance to hydrolysis, greater degree of resilience, and lower temperature flex. It is also more resistant to fungus, micro-organism attack, and dilute acids and alkalies.
Polyester Base Merits Has better cut, tear, and chunking resistance. It is also more abrasion resistant and has higher heat, oxidation, and oil resistance than the polyether based urethanes.
All thermoplastic polyurethane extruded sheet products can be heat sealed, RF welded, vacuum formed, laminated, embossed, and painted.
