The Boost Mobile Jordan Brand Celebrity Showcase
is not your typical slam dunk and three-point
contest. Held at LIU-Brooklyn, the Boost
Mobile Showcase is an event where stars are born.
In 2007, sharp-shooting Nick Calathes, who plays
at the University of Florida, demonstrated
his outside touch with an overtime thriller against Duke's Kyle Singler in the finals to win the inaugural
Boost Mobile Three-Point Shootout.
Next, the top entertainers took the floor in the
Celebrity game including Jadakiss, Fabulous, DMC, DJ
Clue and many more. Kiss earned the buzz as the
unofficial MVP with an astounding seven three-pointers
throughout the contest.
In the evening's finale, the high-flyers took the
court in a no-rules slam dunk contest. Props,
people and creativity were all in play as the
participants pulled out a few tricks. Florida's Chandler Parsons surprised the crowd as teammate
Nick Calathes threw an alley-oop from the balcony and Arizona Wildcat Jerryd Bayless demonstrated his
incredible athleticism on every rim-rocking dunk
attempt. But the night belonged to Syracuse's Donte Greene who stole the show with three
original and almost impossible dunks to take the crown
-- including receiving an alley-oop off the back of the
backboard on his first attempt and soaring over a
teammate to seal the win on his final throwdown.
This is truly one of the highlights of the Game
Week. For ticket information, call 704-365-4587.
