From February 21st through
March 3rd, a group from Jordan Brand will travel to
Europe to select 12 players for the inaugural
International Game as part of the Jordan Brand Classic
on Saturday, April 19th at Madison Square Garden in New
York City. The following is a blog and daily photo
gallery from Kevin Foley, who will be along for the
trip.
Athens (March 1):
We arrived in Athens this morning after an early
start. It was a pretty uneventful trip
other than our bus driver letting us off at the
wrong terminal in Rome. Exercise is good
for the soul anyway.
I thought there was a lot of
traffic in Rome, but Athens just brings it to
another level. Motorcyclists are just
fearless. We first stopped at customs near
the airport to try and track down our MVP awards
which had been held there for a week leading up
to the event. Then we were off to The
Fresh Hotel to get checked in. This is one
of the coolest places I have ever stayed.
The rooms are really small and they do not use
air-conditioning at this time of the year, but
otherwise it has a lot of character. You
actually have to stick your room key into a slot
in your wall to activate your electricity.
When you leave, you take your key and everything
shuts down. It's a pretty
interesting concept.
I spent the afternoon packing
product for the 30 kids at the Athens
camp. They each get an extraordinary bag
of Jordan gear. It almost makes me wish I
worked on my jump shot a little more when I was
younger. Afterwards, we held our
orientation and welcome dinner. It was a
great way to start off the final city on our
trip.
Well, I am off to bed to catch
up on some much-needed sleep. Athens Camp
starts at 8 am tomorrow and will last over 12
hours in the gym. There should be a lot of
talent here this
weekend. |
