BackInside Jordan: JBC 2012 – Game Day
Three closely contested games make the 11th Jordan Brand Classic one of the best yet
The 11th-annual Jordan Brand Classic went down on Saturday in Charlotte, giving fans a glimpse of who’s got next in the game.
We started with the International Game, with a hand-picked group of some of the best young players from around the globe. The crowd was treated to an intense, back-and-forth game that took an overtime to settle. The winning ‘White’ squad was led by Lucas Silva Dias’ (Brazil) 18 points and 12 boards. They also saw some exciting play in the backcourt by the scrappy Italian point guard Federico Mussini who dropped in 21 points.

Up next was the North Carolina Regional Game, giving fans in Charlotte a glimpse of future stars from their home state. It was fast-paced and competitive, ending in a two-point win for the East. The player who stood out amongst the rest was big-man Montrezl Harrell, who dominated the paint with monster dunks and vicious blocks. He ended with 22 points, 12 boards and 7 blocks in just 25 minutes of play.

Then the 2012 Jordan Brand Classic All-Americans took the court for the highly touted National Game. The East jumped out to a fast start, notching 10 points before the West could get on the board. That would soon change as the West found their rhythm and fought back to take the lead in the second half. The crowd was wowed by acrobatic dunks and athletic play throughout the game, which finished in a tight 99-95 victory for the West.

Leading the West squad was Nevada-standout Shabazz Muhammad, who had 20 points and four boards on his way to an MVP award. Taking home the MVP for the East was local guard Rodney Purvis, who slashed his way to a game-high 22 points.

To end the night, Fabolous took the court to give fans a post-game performance.
