1948: SPORT + CULTURE REDEFINED

In the summer of 2008 Nike redefined sporting retail when, inspired by the last time London played host to sport’s biggest spectacle, we launched ‘1948’ in an abandoned East London railway arch. Summer 2011, 1948 was relaunched following an extensive re-design in preparation for the biggest year of sport the UK has ever experienced.

Part retail space, part creative playground, 1948 celebrates freedom and self-expression through sport and culture.

Physically, 1948 is a concept space constantly shifting the space between art and athleticism. It’s a place for progressive product, including pinnacle Nike Sportswear product. It’s a place for creative workshops, forward-thinking speakers, innovative artistic displays, celebrations of sporting and cultural moments, and it’s the home of Run Dem Crew.

1948 also has a digital voice. Summer 2011 also saw the launch of the 1948 seasonal magazine exclusively on iPad, while the 1948 blog documents daily London’s newest roadside, courtside and trackside visions.
