PAUL WELCOMES LUAN TO THE TEAM BEFORE THE CREW HEADS TO BRAZIL.
When Nike Skateboarding pro Paul Rodriguez took a break from a heavy session to welcome his newest teammate Luan Oliveira into the fold, little did he know he was about to embark on a life-changing expedition that would take him halfway around the world, to the heart of South America. After accepting an invitation to Brazil with Luan as their host, a small squad of Nike Skateboarding’s finest (including P-Rod, Ishod Wair, Daryl Angel and Donovon Piscopo) quickly hopped aboard a flight to sample the local terrain and exotic flavour of the Southern Hemisphere firsthand.
But what was originally supposed to be a low-key skate trip centred around the fertile spots of Rio de Janero and Sao Paulo was suddenly transformed when the crew combined with Nike Brazilian riders Fabio Cristiano, Rodrigo Petersen Gerdal, and Cezar Gordo for two blow-out demos unlike anything the riders had ever experienced before. Fuelled by an explosive enthusiasm produced by the thousands in attendance, a frenzied exchange of energy started to take place as the riders began to feed off the tidal waves of awe and appreciation generated with each trick landed trick. The results could only be described as a truly incredible celebration of the far-reaching effects of skate culture. Be it #skateeverydamnday or #skatetodosantodia, the underlying spirit within became a constant companion on the trip, inspiring the riders and ensuring many future Brazilian excursions to come.
