Jhonattan Vegas

Birthplace: Maturin, Venezuela
Birth Date: August 19, 1984
Home: Austin, TX
College: University of Texas
Turned Pro: 2008

Jhonattan knew very little English when he arrived in the states to start his golf career at the University of Texas. He picked up the game in Venezuela by playing with a broomstick and a rock, and eventually began playing at a nine-hole course, which was originally built for oil camp employees, near his home in Maturin.

Jhonattan won once and finished seventh on the 2010 Nationwide Tour money list to earn his 2011 PGA Tour card - the first Venezuelan to do so. His rookie season was sensational, highlighted by a win in only his second start as an official PGA Tour member and a top-50 finish on the money list. 2012 saw Jhonattan pick up three top-25 finishes, including a T-4 at the AT&T National.
